Giving us a chance to showcase some of the music that we like, that isn't necessarily dance music based. There will be of course a plethora of electronic based music, but this feature is primarily artists that we like, not just those that are playing at the venue!

Canadian singer and song-writer Claire Boucher aka Grimes, has been causing waves on the blogosphere for quite a while now, and is a great start to our artist of the week feature.

Combining perfectly the mix between the psychedelic nature of The Animal Collective and the vocal quality and electronic darkness of The Knife. Grimes first album Geidi Primes amazing first listed only as a limited edition 30 cassette run, then followed by free download is very dark and brooding, if not a little confused. It's the later work on Vision, whereby Grimes really steps into her as a producer and singer-songwriter. Tracks like Oblivion and Genesis, are the ideal mix between the the kooky cutting edge nature of the songstress herself and perfect song craftsmanship.

The approach taken on Vision really showcases perfectly how good Grimes can be when she focuses more upon the access ability and quality of her music and less of the avant garde.

There is a very homely feel about Grimes work, a DIY quality that brings in the originality of LO-FI recording, whilst also maintaining a high quality in production. Reports from her live shows have all been very positive, whilst she sings, plays keyboards, synths and percussion. She is most definitely one to watch.
