WEDNESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
SUPERCHARGED
QEMISTS – ALBUM LAUNCH

The Qemists work is not easily definable in reference to other artists. Drum and bass producers just as happy playing live instruments, rock fans seduced by the dancefloor it is the fusion between the two sounds that gives them their unique sound. Echoing this is their working with a selection of diverse artists, each bringing something new and exciting to the table, from ex faith no more frontman Mike Patton, through grime legend Wiley to Drum and Bass chanteuse Jenna G. After receiving high critical acclaim for their first album ‘Join the Q’ they return with something bolder and broader, that marks the next evolutionary step in their career ‘Spirit in the System.’ Come down this wednesday for the launch of what is sure to be an incredible new album.

FRIDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
BATTLEJAM
JFB, ED SOLO

UK beatbox champion Beardyman and UK DMC Champion JFB have been turning rooms of fresh-smelling, stationary punters into rooms of sweaty, dancing punters for a total of about 9 years at their original Brighton residence, Battlejam.

Every month, a guest musician from the vast pool of Brighton talent joins them for a marathon 4 hour jam which involves live sampling of both guest musician and beatbox-vocal-nutter Beardyman by the scratch-technician JFB. They even sample the crowd – either en-mass or individually – and make a tune out of it live, by scratching it and manipulating it in before your very ears.

If it sounds bizarre, that’s ‘cos no-one’s done it before, so come see it and witness this groundbreaking night before everyone starts copying it. Turn up and your drunken shoutings could become the hook for your new favourite tune. . . you got the balls?
For further info on the unique experience that is Battlejam, check their myspace: http://WWW.MYSPACE.COM/BATTLEJAM

11PM-4AM, £5 before midnight

SATURDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER
SOL
BOY 8 BIT

Boy 8-Bit aka David Morris made his first steps onto the dance scene when DJ Touche included his track ‘The Colonel’ in his Radio One essential mix in 2004. From there, his ascendancy was rapid, laying down his own distinctive retro-futuristic take on electro-house with a flagrant disregard for the usual club music rules. Since then, he’s relased a slew of killer tracks, plus he’s remixed over 30 artists including Chromeo, Midfield General, Lethal Bizzle, Mika, Hybrid and The Black Ghosts. A globally renowned electro master, his return to Audio is not to be missed.

11PM-4AM, free before 1am, £5 after.

CLUB: CHEW THE FAT FEAT. FOAMO, LEE MORTIMER, RANDOMER, BARE NOIZE, LINTON BROWN

One of the UK’s longest serving and best-loved electro-breakbeat-bass labels returns to Audio following last year’s massive Bank Holiday show with a killer line up of label stars and hot new talent.

Heading up the bill is Foamo, aka Kye Gibbon. A fresh-faced 21 year old producer and DJ from High Wycombe, of all places, Foamo’s spent the last couple of years banging out tasty wobbly basslines and fidgety beats and has rightly received a lot of attention from the likes of MSTRKRFT, Drop The Lime, Crookers and Kissy Sell Out.

He’s joined by Lee Mortimer, whose base-fuelled take on house music has established him as a key player in the fidget firmament, with slamming productions on Fool’s Gold, Dubsided, CR2 and Made to Play receiving serious attention from major players across the house, techno and electro scenes. Expect sleazy big-room electronic music with an extra strong dose of dancefloor hedonism.

As if those two weren’t enough, there’ll also be  dark dubstep-electro fusion from Randomer, raucous bass-heavy business from Bare Noize, and next-level funk from Linton Brown. Don’t miss this huge line-up from one of club music’s most  important and influential labels.

11pm-4am.

SATURDAY 28TH AUGUST
SOL
THE SUBS – LIVE

Rambunctious. That’s the least you can say about Belgian beatbastards The Subs. Having already released a couple of underground dance maxis – ‘You Make Me Spill’, ‘Fuck That Shit’, ‘Substracktion’ – over the past few years, they hit it hard in 2008, with ‘Kiss My Trance’, a punktrance-juggernaut of a hit single that received thumbs up from the likes of Boysnoize, Philippe Zdar, T. Raumschmiere, and Laurent Garnier. They’ve enthralled audiences worldwide with a live show comprising of a unique set up: 2 DJs and a man behind the microphone/synth. No hiding behind laptops – The Subs take the sweaty punktrashfeel to the dance stage. They work those machines! With gigs at Social Club (Paris), Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Fabric (LDN) and Club Low (Madrid) having secured the band’s live reputation,  The Subs recently dropped their hotly anticipated debut album, ‘Subuculture’ to serious acclaim from cr itics and fans alike.

11pm-4am, free before 1am, £5 after.

SUNDAY 29TH AUGUST
DO NOT DISTURB PRESENTS…

DUBFIRE, SHANE WATCHA, ALEX DOWNEY

One of the techno world’s undisputed megastars of the last few years, Dubfire’s enormous global success has put him on par with likes of Hawtin, Villalobos and Vath, regularly headlining the very biggest festivals and clubs globally.

In 2006 – after 15 ground-breaking years topping charts, winning Grammys, and earning acclaim as one-half of legendary electronic partnership Deep Dish – Dubfire returned to his roots: a diverse foundation spanning punk, industrial/new wave, jazz, dub, hip-hop, house and techno.

An avalanche of accolades made tracks like “Roadkill” and “RibCage” instant techno classics upon release. Covers on Raveline, DJ Magazine and countless other respected music journals; an invitation to mix the covermount CD for Mixmag and DJ; an Essential Mix for the UK’s Radio One; and glowing write-ups from Beatportal and Resident Advisor are just a small taste of the universal acclaim and rave reception. A barrage of remixes and productions on respected labels—including Cocoon, Get Physical, Minus, and Rekids—inspired the electronic dance music world, earning Dubfire praise from both DJs and producers as “the DJ’s DJ” as well as top to bottom praise from a myriad of online and offline music critics and fans.

As his productions and remixes garnered massive popularity – 8 are listed on Beatport’s “Best of DJ Charts, 2009″ – Dubfire’s goodwill among critics and fans steamrolled into 2010 unabated. “Split the Line” remains one of Beatport’s top sellers. “Ten Years Cocoon Ibiza,” a two-disc compilation [co-mixed with Loco Dice] met with further rapturous reception, further whetting fans’ fervent appetites for the appropriately titled “Rabid,” which was released in September.

Amongst his contemporaries, Dubfire remains a unique DJ, producer, and remixer – eager to hone and further evolve his signature sound. With an unmatched hunger to conquer the latest frontiers in electronic dance music and its rapidly changing technology, Dubfire delivers the unexpected and has no intention of slowing down.
